2 weeks June & July 2021

Kawai Purapura Yoga School is proud to be the first Yoga School in New Zealand to offer a complete Tantrik Hatha teacher training. Amy Bassett is a Certified Senior Trainer with The Practice in Bali and has been involved in teacher trainings in Australia before coming home to New Zealand to share these teachings with us. Tantra insists that we empower ourselves and thrive, rather than tucking ourselves away to devote ourselves to spirituality. Taken with dedication, Tantrik Hatha is a stable, sustainable transformation modality that has a lasting effect on our relationships, our immunity and our ability to manifest and live the life we are destined for. Kawai Purapura clearly distances itself from Neo-Tantra that is associated with sexual practices.

Enrol now for 2021

Tantrik Hatha workshops: Sun 14 March | Sun 18 April | Sat 8 May 2021

If you are curious about Tantrik Hatha, join one of three workshop days at Kawai Purapura Retreat Centre. Amy will host you for two Tantrik Hatha practices and two talk sessions covering the history and philosophy of Tantrik Hatha. Amy is great at making this system accessible to all. There will be space for questions and discussion. If you have any injuries, just let us know on the enrolment form. Tantrik Hatha classes are slower and less physically demanding than other yoga styles, focusing inward rather than entertaining the mind. Tantrik Hatha is not to be confused with Neo-Tantra that is associated with sexual practices. We distance ourselves clearly from this movement.

This course introduces you to the Tantrik Hatha teaching methodology of Moon / Sun / Fire. This methodology uses the vāyu as access points to the energetic world. You learn the qualities; characteristics; location; movement and sensation of each of the vāyu channels, then understand how to create the most effective sequences to amplify the qualities of that vāyu. Aligning this vāyu knowledge with the nine elements of bhav, āsana, prānāyāma, savāsana, bāndha, mudra, mantra, kumbhaka and kriya makes your classes Tantrik and you are able to guide your students to a more potent and reliable energetic experience intentionally.

Through her explorations into this system, she is now a Certified Senior Instructor of world-class school, The Practice in Bali. Amy dedicates her life to giving both students and teachers a solid format for energetic exploration and to sharing these teachings that brighten the light of self-knowledge. She is also one of the Lead Trainers of the 200 hour Yoga Teacher Trainings at Kawai Purapura.

Amy Bassett‘s life has been permeated with unusual experiences of energy. Discovering Tantrik Hatha gave her the ‘language’ to put these sublime experiences into words and a format to be able to use them in a functional way. Yoga helped to heal Amy from childhood traumas, substance abuse and ancestral pain. Tantra has set her life on fire! She has now committed her life to learning the tradition, becoming fluent in this language of energy and guiding others on their path and in their studies. She has a particular passion for helping others, especially women, to find their voice and speak their truth.

After gaining her first qualification in 2016, Amy taught in studios and privately in New Zealand, Australia and Qatar, where she had the good fortune of teaching a diverse range of Yogis from all walks of life and levels of practice. Alongside 800+ hours of certified training and over 2000 hours of teaching, Amy is E-RYT500 with Yoga Alliance.
